MGIMS WARDHA MGIMS WARDHA Solved Paper-2015

  • question_answer
If a liquid is flowing through a horizontal tube, then\[p+\frac{1}{2}\rho {{V}^{2}}=\]constant. This shows that

    A)  If\[\rho \]increases then V also increases

    B) \[\rho \]and V both are constant

    C)  If\[\rho \]increases then V decreases

    D)  If\[\rho \]decreases then V also decreases

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

The Bernoullis equation for horizontal pipe is given by\[p+\frac{1}{2}\rho {{V}^{2}}=\]constant. This shows that when p increases then V decreases and vice-versa. So, for the streamline flow of an ideal liquid flowing horizontally, if the pressure increases, then the velocity decreases and vice-versa.
