A transformer having efficiency of 90% is working on 200 V and 3 kW power supply. If the current in the secondary coil is 6 A, the voltage across the secondary coil and the current in the primary coil respectively are  [NEET 2014]

    A)  300 V, 15 A

    B)       450 V, 15 A

    C)  450 V, 13.5 A

    D)       600 V, 15 A

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Initial power \[=3000\text{ }W\]
As efficiency is 90% then final power
                \[=3000\times \frac{90}{100}\]
                \[=2700\,\,W\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\left. \begin{align}   & {{V}_{1}}{{l}_{1}}=3000\,\,W \\  & {{V}_{1}}{{l}_{1}}=2700\,\,W \\ \end{align} \right]\]                                 …(i)
    So,       \[{{V}_{2}}\frac{2700}{6}=\frac{900}{2}=450V\]
    and       \[{{l}_{1}}\frac{3000}{200}=15A\]
