NEET NEET SOLVED PAPER 2013

  • question_answer
Which of the following is electron deficient?

    A) \[{{(C{{H}_{3}})}_{2}}\]

    B) \[{{(Si{{H}_{3}})}_{2}}\]

    C) \[{{(B{{H}_{3}})}_{2}}\]

    D) \[P{{H}_{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Boron is an element of 13 group and contains three electrons in its valence shell. When its compound \[B{{H}_{3}}\]dime rises, each boron atom carry only \[6{{e}^{-}},\] that is their octet is incomplete. Hence, \[{{(B{{H}_{3}})}_{2}}\] is an electron deficient compound. In all other given molecules octet of central atom is complete.
