    In a potentiometer experiment the galvanometer shows no deflection when a cell is connected across 60 cm of potentiometer wire. If the cell is shunted by a resistance of 6\[\Omega \] the balance is obtained at 50 cm. Find the internal resistance of cell.

    Solution :

    From potentiometer formula internal resistance \[\begin{align}   & r=\left( \frac{{{l}_{1}}}{{{l}_{2}}}-1 \right)R \\  & =\left( \frac{60}{50}-1 \right)\times 6 \\  & =1.2\,\Omega  \\ \end{align}\]
