US President Barack Obama hosted the first Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) in order to draw attention, at the highest possible level, to the need to secure nuclear material and thus prevent nuclear terrorism. The International Panel on Fissile Materials (IPFM), established in 2006, is a group of independent nuclear experts from 18 countries (not by IAEA).
