Given: \[2x-4\le 2-\frac{x}{3}\]and \[2(2x+5)>3x-5,\]then x can take which of the following values?

    A)  -14

    B)  3

    C)  4

    D)  14

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

     \[2x-4\le 2-\frac{x}{3}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[6x-12\le 6-x\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[6x+x\le 6+12\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[7x\le 18\Rightarrow x\le \frac{18}{7}\] Again, \[2(2x+5)>3x-5\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[4x+10>3x-5\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[4x-3x>-10-5\Rightarrow x>-15\] \[\therefore \]\[-15<x<\frac{18}{7}\] \[\therefore \]\[x=-14\]
