VMMC VMMC Medical Solved Paper-2004

  • question_answer
The volume of oxygen liberated from 15ml of 20 volume \[{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\]is

    A)  250 ml

    B)                         300 ml

    C)         150 ml

    D)         200 ml

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Quantity of \[{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}\text{=15}\,\,\text{ml}\] and volume of \[{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\text{=20}\] We know that 20 volume of \[{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\] means 1 litre of this solution will give 20 litre of oxygen at N.T.P. Since, oxygen liberated from 1000 ml (1 litre) of \[{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\text{=}\,\,\text{20}\,\] litre, therefore, oxygen liberated from 15 ml of \[{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\] \[=\frac{20}{1000}\times 15=0.3\,\text{litre}\,\,\text{=}\,\text{300}\,\text{ml}\text{.}\]
