Drift velocity varies with the velocity of electric field as per the relation :

    A) \[{{V}_{d}}={{E}^{2}}\]

    B) \[{{V}_{d}}\alpha E\]

    C) \[{{V}_{d}}\alpha \frac{1}{E}\]

    D)        \[{{V}_{d}}\alpha {{E}^{2}}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Drift velocity is given by \[{{\upsilon }_{d}}=\frac{e}{m}\times \frac{V}{l}\]                 As \[V=El,\] or \[E=\frac{V}{l}.\]                 or            \[{{\upsilon }_{d}}=\frac{e}{m}\times \frac{El}{l}\]                 So,          \[{{\upsilon }_{d}}\propto E\]
