Direction for: In each of the following questions a statement of Assertion is given followed by a corresponding statement of Reason just below it. Of the statements mark the correct answer as

Assertion: Magnetic field is not associated with a stationary charge. Reason: A magnetic field can be detected by means of its effect on a current carrying conductor.

    A) If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion

    B) If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion

    C) If assertion is true but reason is false

    D) If both assertion and reason are false

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

We know that magnetic field can only be produced by a moving charge and not by stationary charge. Hence, stationary charge  can never produce magnetic field. The reason is also true.
