Direction for: In each of the following questions a statement of Assertion is given followed by a corresponding statement of Reason just below it. Of the statements mark the correct answer as

Assertion: A rain drop after falling through some height attains a constant velocity. Reason: At constant velocity the viscous drag is just equal to its weight.

    A)  If both Assertion and Reason are true and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

    B)         If both Assertion and Reason are true but Reason is not the correct explanation of Assertion.

    C)         If Assertion is true but Reason is false.

    D)         If both Assertion and Reason are false.

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

When a rain drop falls in air (viscous medium), then after falling through same height, the viscous drag balances the weight of the drop and then through rest height, its velocity is constant or it attains a terminal velocity.
