    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Facial nerves are mixed nerves and arise from the lateral parts of medulla oblongata. It innervates the taste buds of the tongue, muscle of the face and salivary glands. In mammals, each facial nerve enters into the geniculate ganglion of its side and emerges out from it after dividing into three branches. Palatinus nerve: This is sensory, bringing sensory impulses from mucous membrane of buccopharyngeal cavity, nasal passages and taste buds. Hyomandibular nerve: This is a motor nerve and carries response impulses to the muscles of lower jaw, lips, eyelids, ear pinna and neck. Chordae tympanic nerve: This is also a motor nerve. It extends across the tympanic membrane. It innervates the muscles of tongue and snout. It contains some autonomic fibres also which innervate salivary and lacrimal glands and the mucosa of nasal chambers.
