    Plasmodium vivax causes benign tertian malaria in human beings. In this, fever recycles every third day or 48 hours. During erythrocyte cycle, haemozoin granules are formed due to proteolysis of the haemoglobin of host cell. Accumulation of these granules and probably also some other toxic substances in blood causes the characteristic attack of malaria fever after each on erythrocyte cycle (48 hrs).
