  • question_answer
For a certain thermocouple, if the temperature of the cold junction is \[\text{0}{{\,}^{\text{o}}}\text{C,}\] the neutral temperature and inversion temperatures are \[285{{\,}^{\text{o}}}\text{C}\]and \[570{{\,}^{\text{o}}}\text{C}\]respectively. If the cold junction is brought to \[\text{10}{{\,}^{\text{o}}}\text{C,}\] then the new neutral and inversion temperatures are respectively

    A)  \[285{{\,}^{o}}C\] and \[560{{\,}^{o}}C\]

    B)  \[285{{\,}^{o}}C\]and \[570{{\,}^{o}}C\]

    C)  \[295{{\,}^{o}}C\]and \[560{{\,}^{o}}C\]

    D)  \[275{{\,}^{o}}C\]and \[560{{\,}^{o}}C\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Neutral temperature remains same. Inversion temperature, \[{{T}_{i}}=2{{T}_{n}}-{{T}_{c}}\]                                                 \[=2\times 285-10\]                                                 \[=560{{\,}^{o}}C\]
