It is caused by circulating antibodies that block acetylcholene receptors at the post-synaptic neuromuscular junction inhibiting the excitatory effects of acetyl choline and nicotinic receptors at neuromuscular junctions. First noticeable symptom is weakning of eye muscles leading to drooping of eyelids. It is treated medically with acetylcholine esterase inhibitiors or immuno suppressants.
