From the figures (data in NCERT Text-book) would you say that a majority of the country's farmers are quite poor? What do you think can be done to change this situation?  

Answer:

In India about 80% rural families are agricultural labourers, and they do not earn a sufficient amount, so they meet their requirements. To improve their position, the government has to provide some facilities such as easy loan, provided land, seeds, fertilizers, etc.
