                      (a) Schematic  representation  of transport  and exchange of oxygen and, carbon dioxide is shown below                                                 (2) (b) The separation of right and left sides of the heart is very important in birds and mammals. Such kind of separation is useful to keep oxygenated and deoxygenated blood from mixing and thus allow a highly efficient supply of oxygen to the body. This also helps in providing constant energy to the organism. This is required by mammals and birds as they utilise this energy to maintain their body temperature.                 (3)
