    Answer:

    (a) Kari would go to window and stretch its trunk through the window to reach the bananas on the plate kept on the table near the window and grab all the bananas without letting anyone notice it.
    (b) The cop?s mind did not consider Soapy because the man who breaks windows do not stop there to talk to cops. They run away as fast as they can. The cop saw a man further along the street running and he ran after him.
    (c) Mr. Purcell, being a professional man, could see that even a 50 cent reduction in the price that he is giving for the doves, would reap him with a major profit. So he decided to sell the birds at the reduced price.
    (d) The mistress of the bear used to visit her sister?s house on every Sunday and it was difficult for her to take the bear with her. So the bear was put in chain on Sundays for his own good, as it was not good for him to wander in the forest without being looked after.
    (e) A lot of resources were required to destroy the spacecraft in the space so Number One felt it would be foolish to destroy this in space. This was the reason why he suggested that it would be better to leave the spacecraft un operational on the surface of the planet if it once landed there.
