Two dices are thrown simultaneously. What is the probability that the sum of the two numbers appearing on the top of the dice is?

    A)  \[\frac{1}{3}\]

    B)  \[\frac{2}{3}\]

    C)  \[\frac{5}{6}\]

    D)  \[\frac{1}{6}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Hence, \[n\,\,(S)=6\times 6=36\] Now suppose E = Event of getting a sum of 7 =(1, 7), (2, 5), (3, 4), (4, 3), (5, 2) and (6, 1) = 6 So,       \[P\,\,(E)=\frac{n\,\,(E)}{n\,\,(S)}=\frac{6}{36}=\frac{1}{6}\]
