Direction: In this question, three statements followed by two conclusions are given. You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows disregarding commonly known facts.
    Statements:     Some trains are buses.
                            All buses are trucks.
                            No train is a car.
Conclusions:    I. At least some cars are trucks.
II. Some buses are not cars.
    Give answer

    A)  if only conclusion I follows.

    B)  if only conclusion II follows.

    C)  if either conclusion I or II follows.

    D)  if neither conclusion I nor II follows.

    E)  if both conclusion I and II follow.

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Some trains are buses (I) + All buses are trucks (A) = I + A = I = Some trains are trucks (I) \[\to \] conversion \[\to \] Some trucks are trains (I) + No train is a car (E) = I + E = O = Some trucks are not cars. Hence conclusion I does not follow. Again, Some trains are buses (I) \[\to \] conversion \[\to \] Some buses are trains (I) + No train is a car (E) = I + E = O = Some buses are not cars. Hence conclusion II follows.
