The average weight of A, B and C is 40 kgs. Weight of C is 24 kgs more than A's weight and 3 kgs less than B's weight. What will be the average weight of A, B, C and D, if D weighs 15 kgs less than C?

    A)  42 kgs

    B)  40 kgs

    C)  36 kgs

    D)  34 kgs

    E)  38 kgs

    Correct Answer: E

    Solution :

    \[C=(A+24)kg\] \[C=(B-3)kg\] \[\therefore \]\[A+24=B-3\Rightarrow B=A+27\] \[\therefore \]\[A+B+C=40\times 3\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[A+A+27+A+24=120\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[3A+51=120\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[3A=120-51=69\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[A=\frac{69}{3}=23kg\] \[B=A+27=23+27=50kg\] \[C=120-23-50=47kg\] \[D=47-15=32kg\] \[\therefore \]Required average weight \[=\frac{23+50+47+32}{4}\] \[=\frac{23+50+47+32}{4}\]
