  • question_answer
Present age of A and B are in the ratio \[11:3\] respectively. After 10 years this ratio becomes\[13:5\]. What is the difference between the age of A and B?

    A)  15 years

    B)  55 years

    C)  40 years

    D)  30 years

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

     Let the age of A and B are \[11\text{ }x\]and \[3x\] respectively. \[\therefore \,\,\,\,\frac{11x+10}{3x+10}=\frac{13}{5}\]             \[\Rightarrow \,\,\,\,55x+50=39x+130\]             \[\Rightarrow \,\,\,\,55x-39x=130-50\,\,\,\Rightarrow \,\,\,16x=80\]             \[\therefore \,\,\,\,\,x=\frac{80}{16}=5\] Age of A\[=11\times 5=55\]years Age of B \[=3\times 5=15\] years Difference of age \[=55-15=\] 40 years
