For a gas undergoing an adiabatic process, the relation between temperature and volume is found to be \[T{{V}^{0.4}}=\] constant. This gas must be:

    A)  Hydrogen

    B)  argon

    C)         carbon dioxide

    D)         helium

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

From the adiabatic relation \[T{{V}^{\gamma -1}}=\text{constant}\] here      \[V-1=0.4\] which gives   \[V=1.4\] Therefore the gas is diatomic i.e., hydrogen.
