JIPMER Jipmer Medical Solved Paper-2002

  • question_answer
Two vessels A and B of cross-section as shown in figure contain a liquid upto the same height. As the temperature rises, the liquid pressure at the bottom (neglecting expansion of the vessels) will:

    A)                   A                                    B  increase in B, decrease in A

    B)  increase in A, decrease in B

    C)  decrease in both A and B

    D)  increase in both A and B

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

\[P=hg\rho ,\] when temperature rises density decreases. The rise of height increases, to keep   same   pressure   where   the cross-sectional area of A is smaller at the top. Therefore, the rise of height is more in A than B.
