There are three articles. They are the following:

Before going ahead look at the Vowel and Consonant:

•  Vowel: A, E, I, O and U
•  Consonant: Rest is consonants.
•  For example: B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, and Z

A is used before a word which starts with a consonant.

For example:

An is used before a word which starts with a vowel.

For example:

An umbrella

An inkpot

'The' is used before the following:

•  Before the names of the heavenly bodies. For example: the sun, the moon, the earth, etc.
•  Before the names of rivers. For example: The Ganga, The Yamuna, etc.
•  Before the names of higher posts. For example: The Prime Minister, The President, etc.
•  Before the names of holy books. For example; The Bible, The Ramayana, etc.
