 National Film Archive of India (NFAI) and Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for transfer of three acres of landfor the construction of storage facility for films and film material. The land belonging to FTII at their Kothrud campus in Pune will be transferred to NFAI for this purpose.  The government will infuse an additional Rs 41,000 crore into cash-starved public sector banks (PSBs). The outlay will go up from Rs. 65,000 crore to Rs. 1,06,000 crore in the current financial year to propel economic growth, cementing India’s position as the fastest growing economy of the world. This would enable infusion of over Rs. 83,000 crore in the coming few months in Public Sector Banks (PSBs). This is in addition to the Rs 2.11 lakh crore bailout package announced by the government in October 2017. |

 The US regulator Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has retained the highest aviation safety ranking for India. The Federal Aviation Administration carried out an audit of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in July 2018. FAA formally confirmed that India’s International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA)rating remains ‘Category 1’. Category 1 means the carriers from the assessed state may initiate or continue service to the US in a normal manner and take part in reciprocal code-share arrangements with American carriers. |

 Gujarat has emerged as the best-performing state in the Startup Ranking 2018.The National Report on States’ Startup Ranking was unveiled by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi. Gujarat, with 100 percentile, has performed better than all other states in all the seven areas including start up policy, incubation support, seeding innovation and scaling innovation. Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha and Rajasthan, with a score of more than 85 percentile, have been adjudged the top performers. Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana have been recognised as Leaders. 27 states and 3 union territories participated in the ranking process. |

 Renowned Kabaddi Player, Anup Kumar announced his retirement from Kabaddi ending a 15-year iconic career. The 35-year-old had led India to a memorable Kabaddi World Cup title triumph in 2016. A sports veteran, Arjuna awardee Anup began his international career in 2006 at the South Asian Games in Sri Lanka. He led India to the gold medal at the Asian Games and was also part of the team which repeated the feat in the 2014 edition. |

 NITI Aayog unveiled its comprehensive national Strategy for New India titled ‘Strategy for New India @75’, which defines clear objectives for 2022-23. The document was released by the Finance Minister of India Mr Arun Jaitley. The Strategy Document advocates empowering and encouraging women to participate across all sectors of the economy, to build a strong and inclusive New India. It vouches for the transformation of the rural economy, creating a policy environment that enables income security for farmers and modernising agricultural technology for doubling farmers income. |

 Lok Sabha has passed the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2016 which is aimed at prohibiting commercial surrogacy and unethical practices relating to it. The Bill has provisions to constitute National Surrogacy Board, State Surrogacy Boards, and appointment of appropriate authorities for regulation of surrogacy. It permits surrogacy only for couples who cannot conceive a child. The intending couple must be Indian citizens and married for at least five years with at least one of them being infertile. The surrogate mother has to be a close relative who has been married and has a child of her own. |
