 The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) has partnered with UNICEF to strengthen the Government of India’s resolution to mobilise 1 crore youth volunteers to attain the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat. To promote volunteerism among the youth of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has signed a Statement of Intent with YuWaah (a multi-stakeholder platform formed by the UNICEF).
The partnership between the two will also help the transition of youth of India from education and learning to productive work, skilling and being active citizens. The partnership will support the young people in co-creating and implementing the solutions at scale while tackling education, skilling and unemployment challenges for young people in India. YuWaah in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will help youth of India in building and leading their own agendas and thrive.

 The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India (MoMSME). As per the signed MoU, CBDT will share certain Income-tax Return (ITR) related information with MoMSME. The exchanged data will enable MoMSME to keep a check as well as to classify enterprises in Micro, Small and Medium categories as per the criteria. For the successful process of data exchange, both the organisations will appoint Nodal Officer and Alternate Nodal Officers. The MoU between the CBDT & MoMSME marks the beginning of a new era of cooperation and synergy between them.

 Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon passed away. He was undergoing treatment since June 11 and passed away after a prolonged illness. During his treatment period, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel was given the additional charge of Madhya Pradesh. Lalji Tandon has served as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Parishad for two terms and was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from Lucknow in 2009. He was appointed Governor of Bihar in 2018, and then the Governor of Madhya Pradesh in 2019.

 Civil Rights pioneer John Lewis passed away. Lewis was also a long-time member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Lewis was a protege of Martin Luther King Jr. and kept the fight for civil rights and human rights until the end of his life. His last public appearance was in a protests for racial justice that swept the US and the world in June. John Lewis was the member of Congress from Atlanta. He first entered the Congress in 1986. He represented Georgia in Congress for nearly 35 years. President Barack Obama presented Lewis with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in year 2011, the highest civilian honor.

 A 2001-batch, Indian Revenue Service officer, P Praveen Siddharth has been appointed as the new personal secretary to the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind. Siddharth is already serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the President’s Secretariat. He will replace Vikram Singh, who has now been appointed Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Shipping.

 SBI Cards and Payment Services has appointed Ashwini Kumar Tewari as its new Managing Director and chief executive officer. The new appointment will be valid for two years and his appointment will come into effect from August 1, 2020. He was nominated by parent State Bank of India for the position. Tewari’s appointment is followed by the resignation of present MD & CEO, Hardayal Prasad who decided to quit from the directorship of the company owing to his voluntary retirement from the State Bank of India.

  Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched ”Navin Rojgar Chhatri Yojana” for all-round development of the Scheduled Castes. He also transferred financial assistance of 17.42 crore online to 3,484 people under the ‘Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Swarojgar Yojana’ and interacted with some beneficiaries from Rae Bareli, Gorakhpur, Basti, Meerut, Azamgarh and Moradabad districts through video conferencing. The state government is extending financial help to make people self-dependent.

 Guinean doctor Morissana Kouyate and Marianna Vardinoyannis of Greece are the winners of the 2020 Nelson Mandela Prize. The President of the United Nations General Assembly, Tijjani Muhammad-Bande has made the announcement of the winners of the award which recognizes persons who dedicate their lives to the service of humanity.
About Morissana Kouyate: Kouyaté is a leading figure in efforts to end violence against women in Africa, including Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). He has received several international humanitarian awards for his work.
About Marianna Vardinoyannis: Vardinoyannis has been involved in the fight against childhood cancer for some 30 years and, thanks to her work, thousands of children have been cured.
About Nelson Mandela Prize: The Nelson Mandela Prize, which is awarded every five years and recognizes those who dedicate their lives to the service of humanity, by promoting the purposes and principles of the United Nations, while honouring Nelson Mandela’s life, and legacy of reconciliation, political transition, and social transformation. The Mandela Prize was established by a UN General Assembly resolution in June 2014.

 Lewis Hamilton won the Formula-1 Hungarian Grand Prix 2020 at Hungaroring, Mogyoród, Hungary. Max Verstappen (Dutch-Red Bull) was second, followed by Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes- Finland) at the third spot. Hungarian Grand Prix 2020 was the third race of the 2020 Formula One World Championship.

 The 3rd G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting was held under the Saudi Arabian Presidency through Video Conferencing. India was represented by Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman in the meeting. During the meet, the participants deliberated on the global economic outlook amid evolving COVID-19 pandemic crisis along with other G20 Finance Track priorities for the year 2020. During the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meet, Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted the measures taken by India to fight the COVID-19 pandemic such as direct benefit transfers, special support to agriculture and MSME sectors, rural employment guarantee measures etc.
