 India celebrates National Handloom Day every year on 7th August. The day is celebrated to honour the handloom weavers in the country and also highlight India’s handloom industry. Bhubaneswar has been chosen as the venue for the celebrations of the day for its rich tradition of Handlooms. The prime objective of holding the National Handloom Day in Bhubaneswar is to empower women and girls. National Handloom Day seeks to focus on the contribution of handloom to the socio economic development of the country and also increase the income of weavers.

  August 6 marks the anniversary of the atomic bombing in Hiroshima during World War II. The horrific incident took place on August 6, 1945, when the United States dropped an atomic bomb named Little Boy, on the town of Hiroshima in Japan. This was the first time in the history of warfare when an atomic bomb was used against a nation. The incident wiped out around 90% of the city and killed around 80,000 people and had left scars on the city even after all these years.

  United Nations observes 30 July every year as World Day Against Trafficking. In 2013, the General Assembly designated July 30 as the World Day against Trafficking in Persons to raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and for the promotion and protection of their rights. On the 2019 World Day UNODC is focusing on highlighting the importance of Government action with a tagline: Human Trafficking: call your government to action

  World Health Organization observe 28 July every year as “World Hepatitis Day” to step up national and international efforts on hepatitis. The date of 28 July was chosen because it is the birthday of Nobel-prize winning scientist Dr Baruch Blumberg, who discovered hepatitis B virus (HBV) and developed a diagnostic test and vaccine for the virus. The theme for 2019 is “Invest in eliminating hepatitis”. The host country for World Hepatitis Day 2019 is Pakistan.

 The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) celebrating the 159th Income Tax Day (AaykarDiwas) on 24th July. On 24th July, 1860 that Income Tax was introduced for the first time in India by Sir James Wilson.

  India celebrates 23 July every year as the “National Broadcasting day”. On this day in 1927, the first ever radio broadcast in the country went on the air from the Bombay Station under the Indian Broadcasting Company. On 8th of June, 1936, the Indian State Broadcasting Service became All India Radio.Currently, AIR is one of the largest public broadcasting organisations in the world.

  World Day for International Justice is observed all around the world on 17th July. The aim of the day is to promote international criminal justice and as a way of supporting the work of the ICC. It came about when 120 states adopted a statute in Rome. It was known as the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, All the countries that agreed to adopt the statute were accepting the jurisdiction of the ICC.

  Union Health Minister released  National Digital Health Blueprint, bringing in the National Digital Health Eco-system that can ensure the availability of healthcare services on a wider scale. The objective is to establish state-of-the-art digital health systems, for managing the core digital health data, the infrastructure required for its seamless exchange.
