 Union Environment Ministry has selected 12 beaches in India to vie for a ‘Blue Flag’certification, an international recognition conferred on beaches that meet certain criteria of cleanliness and environmental propriety. These beaches are at Shivrajpur (Gujarat), Bhogave (Maharashtra), Ghoghla (Diu), Miramar (Goa), Kasarkod and Padubidri (Karnataka), Kappad (Kerala), Eden (Puducherry), Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu), Rushikonda (Andhra Pradesh), Golden (Odisha), and Radhanagar (Andaman & Nicobar Islands). |

The App ‘Indian Haj Information System‘ developed by the consulate will receive feedback and grievances from Hajis. Another app E-MASIHA will retrieve pilgrims’ health information to apply appropriate treatment whenever he or she visits Indian medical facilities during Haj. |

 The South Central Railway has commissioned the longest electrified tunnel of India. The tunnel which is between Cherlopalli and Rapuru stations is 6.6 km long, is built at a total cost of ?460 crore. The horse shoe shaped tunnel is of 6.5 metres height with ballastless track and LED lighting provided at 10 metre intervals inside. |

 Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has released a Kargil Tribute Song to honour, salute and pay homage to the Kargil martyrs and war veterans. The song has been composed by eminent Hindi lyricist Sammer Anjaan and sung by Shatadru Kabir. The song was released as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas to be celebrated on 26th of July. |
