  Pakistan’s master leg-spinner Abdul Qadir passed Away. Qadir, who played in 67 Tests and 104 ODIs had a total 368 wickets in his international career. He was worked as chief selector in 2009 and it was the squad that was selected by him that went on to win the ICC World T20 in England.

  Veteran Congress leader and former MP Sukhdev Singh Libra passed away. He was the member of the 14th and 15th Lok Sabhas. In 1985, he became MLA(Member of the Legislative Assembly) from Khanna in Ludhiana. He was a member of Rajya Sabha from 1998-2004. He contested from Fatehgarh Sahib and Ropar parliamentary constituencies.

 Sahitya Akademi Award-winning writer Kiran Nagarkar passed away. He began his career as an educationist, a journalist and then later as a screenplay writer in the advertising industry. His novel “Cuckold” (1997) won him the 2001 Sahitya Akademi award. He wrote his first book Saat Sakkam Trechalis in 1974 in his mother tongue, Marathi.

 The 4 Times Emmy Award-winning actress Valerie Harper passed away. She also has Golden Globe award for playing the brash New Yorker on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”. She began her career as a dancer on Broadway, making her debut in the musical “Take Me Along” in 1959.

  Socialist leader and former MLA of Palghar Navnitbhai Shah passed away. He took part in the freedom struggle in 1942 at the Gowalia Tank maidan in Mumbai. He was an active member of the Rashtra Seva Dal in Mumbai between 1943-49. He was elected as the first Sarpanch of Palghar (Maharashtra) in 1952 and as MLA in 1957 and 1962.

 Congress (MLA) from the Mukerian assembly seat in Punjab, Rajnish Kumar Babbi passed away. He was first elected to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in the 2012 assembly polls as an Independent from Mukerian. In 2017 assembly elections, as a Congress candidate, he had defeated (BJP) nominee Arunesh Kumar.

  Naval war hero and Kirti Chakra awardee Commander Noel Kelman passed away. Commander Kelman was awarded the Kirti Chakra for valour during the liberation of Goa in 1961. He was involved in an operation to flush out the Portuguese from the Anjadip Island, Karnataka. Kelman had also been awarded the King’s commendation in the Second World War for his role in sinking a Japanese submarine.

  India’s first woman Director General of Police (DGP), Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya passed away. She was a 1973 batch officer, made history in 2004 when she was appointed as the DGP of Uttarakhand. She was also the second woman IPS officer in the country.
