Human Body
Human beings are living things. We take food when we are hungry. We drink water when we are thirsty. We feel pain when someone hurt us. Our body is like a living machine. It grows in height and size with age.
Our Body
Our body has many parts. We call these parts as organs. There are two types of organs in our body:
(i) External organs
(ii) Internal organs
External Organs and Their Functions
External organs are those parts of our body that we can see. For example, eyes, hands, fingers, nose, mouth, etc. Below given are the functions of some of the important external organs of our body.
Eyes help us to see. Nose helps us to smell.
Ears help us to hear. Skin helps us to feel.
Legs help us to walk and run.
Hands help us to hold things, take our food and to do other activities.
Fingers help us to hold our pencil and write.
Tongue helps us to taste food.
Internal Organs and their Functions
The parts of our body that are inside us and we cannot see them, are called internal organs. Below given are the functions of some of the internal organs of our body.
Brain helps us to think. Lungs help us to breathe.
The food that we eat goes to stomach.
Heart pumps blood into the whole body. You must have seen that when we fall sick doctor puts stethoscope in our chest. He listens to the heart beat by that machine.
Sense Organs
Eye, Ear, Nose, Skin and Tongue
They are five friends. These five friends together are known as our sense organs. They help us know the world around us.
Needs of Our Body
You know now that each of the organs of our body has to perform so many functions.
It is, therefore, our duty to keep our body fit and healthy.
Food - We need food to keep our body fit.
Water — We also need water.
Sleep — We need rest or sleep. We should sleep at least eight hours a day. If we don't take enough rest then we will fall sick.
Good food and enough rest make our body strong.
Exercise also helps us to become strong and stay healthy.
