  Veteran freedom fighter from Goa and Padmashri winner Mohan Ranade passes away after a prolonged illness. Ranade was a member of the Azad Gomantak Dal, a group of revolutionaries who believed in the doctrine of armed attacks against the Portuguese colonial rule and participated in ambushes on several Portuguese installations in Goa.

  The Indian women’s hockey team have won the FIH Series Finals after defeating Japan. The team rose to a victory with a score of 3-1. The series was held in Japan. Japan gifts Manipur a “Peace Museum” which is built on the memories of one of the fiercest battles of the Second World War. The inauguration of the Imphal Peace Museum at Red Hill, about 20 km southwest of Manipur’s capital Imphal, marked the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Imphal.

Senior bureaucrat Shefali Juneja is appointed as India’s representative in the council of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), a United Nations body. She will replace the senior IAS officer Alok Shekhar. Presently, Shefali Juneja is serving as the Joint Secretary in Ministry of Civil Aviation.

  The Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, a religious pilgrimage, will get a dedicated in-house disaster response force by September, 2020. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is going to train 180 employees to prepare a dedicated disaster response force for the shrine. It will also set up an Emergency Operation Centre as part of its disaster preparedness.
