  The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has promoted Stacey Cunningham to President, making her the first sole woman head of the 226-year-old exchange.  The 43-year-old became NYSE's Chief Operating Officer (COO) in June 2015. With Cunningham's promotion, America's leading two stock exchanges will be led by women after Adena Friedman took over as CEO of Nasdaq in January 2017.

  Annual MoU was signed between Ministry of Railway & Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) regarding financial & non-financial targets for the company. Mr Ranjanesh Sahai, Secretary, Railway Board & Mr S.C. Agnihotri, Chairman & Managing Director, RVNL signed the MoU in New Delhi. The target for revenue from operations for RVNL has been set of Rs 7600 Cr for the FY 2018-19.

 Coimbatore racer Bala Prasath has won the Formula Junior Racing Series 2018 Championship in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Bala, who was trailing in second place after Round 1 with 91 points, was in his element in Round 2 at the Kari Motor Speedway.

  The 71st World Health Assembly was held in Geneva, Switzerland. The Indian Delegation was led by Union Health Minister of India, Mr J P Nadda at World Health Assembly. The Event was held under the theme "Health for All: Commit To Universal Health Coverage".  Mr Nadda also inaugurated ‘Walk the Talk’ event and gave a call ‘Health for all, Yoga for all’.

 In Tennis, Rafael Nadal of Spain has beaten Germany’s Alexander Zverev to win Italian Open title for a record eighth time.  With this win, Nadal regained the world number one ranking before the French Open beginning. Nadal survived a stunning fightback. He cruised to the first set before Alexander, the defending champion, won nine of the 11 games to take the second set 6-1 and lead 3-1 in the decider. He has now won three clay-court titles from four tournaments in the lead-up to his bid for an 11th Roland Garros title in Paris.

  The International Day for Biological Diversity is observed across the world on May 22, with an aim to raise awareness about the conservation of biodiversity. The theme of International Day for Biological Diversity 2018 is ‘Celebrating 25 Years of Action for Biodiversity’ as the year 2018 marks the 25th anniversary of the Convention on Biological Diversity. The day was proclaimed with an aim to commemorate the adoption of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) on May 22, 1992 by the Nairobi Final Act.

  The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has launched 'My MP Rojgar Portal' to provide jobs to youths as per their educational qualification, skills and interest and ensure availability of able candidates to employers as per the need of their business. The portal was launched as a part of the 'Ham Chhu Lenge Asman' Mukhyamantri Career Counselling programme ‘Pahal' in Model School of Bhopal. It was prepared by the Madhya Pradesh Skill Development and Employment Generation Board under youth empowerment mission.

 Veteran writer, novelist Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani, who along with her women counterparts Arikepudi Kousalya Devi and Ranganayakamma, heralded a new era in Telugu fictional literature since the 1950s, passed away at California. The writer, who hailed from Kaza village of Krishna district, was 78. Some of Sulochana's famous novels include Murali Krishna, Radha Krishna, Jeevana Tarangalu, Premalekhalu, Secretary, Aathmeeyulu to name a few.

  India successfully test-fired the Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from a test range along the Odisha coast to validate some new features. The missile was test-fired from a mobile launcher stationed at Launch pad 3 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, according to DRDO.
The trial was conducted to validate its “life extension” technologies developed for the first time in India by DRDO and team Brahmos.

   Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left on a day-long visit to Russia. Mr Modi will hold an informal summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi. The interaction will be part of regular consultation between the leadership of the two countries.    The two leaders will meet in an informal atmosphere where they will discuss several regional factors of the bilateral relations. The Prime Minister and Russian President would also discuss issues like the situation in Afghanistan and Syria and the threat of terrorism. Matters of upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, BRICS and Eurasian Economic Union summits would also figure in the talks.
