It has been the season full of ups and downs for the 11th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.Chennai Super Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in the final of the 2018 Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was the sensational knock of 117 runs off 57 balls by the experienced Shane Watson that led CSK to lift their third IPL trophy. Reinstated into the IPL after a two-year ban for their team management's role in the 2013 spot-fixing scandal, CSK won their third IPL trophy after a gap of seven years. With this, Chennai Super Kings equalled Mumbai Indians' record for winning the most number of Indian Premier League titles. Notably, Chennai Super Kings defeated SunRisers Hyderabad in each of their four encounters this season. |

Colombia has formally joined North Atlantic Treaty Organization as global partner. It makes it first Latin American to join NATO. The announcement came after Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) approved Colombia as a new member. NATO alliance had reached partnership agreement with Colombia back in May 2017, just after the Latin American signed peace agreement with communist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), ending the longest-running civil conflict in Latin America. The peace deal had earned Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos 2016 Nobel Peace Prize. As a global partner with NATO, Colombia will not necessarily have to take part in active military actions of NATO but will be fully accredited to 29-nation military alliance. It will cooperate on global security areas like cyber and maritime security, terrorism and links to organized crime. Other global partners of NATO include Afghanistan, Australia, Iraq, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, New Zealand and Pakistan. |

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated to the nation its first smart and green highway, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway at Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh. The 135-kilometer six-lane access-controlled expressway is eco-friendly and has world-class safety features. It envisages signal-free connectivity between Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gautam Budh Nagar and Palwal. It has been built at a cost of 11,000 crore rupees. It is India's first highway to be lit by solar power besides provisions of rainwater harvesting. |

E-Way Bill system for intra-State movement of goods will be implemented in seven more states and Union Territories from 27th May 2018. The States are Maharashtra, Manipur, Chandigarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu and Lakshadweep. |
| With this, the number of States, where the system is being implemented, will go up to 27. As per the decision of the GST Council, e-Way Bill system has been rolled out from 1st of April this year. |
