  Decisions taken in the first cabinet meeting of Andhra Pradesh: Education sector: All women who send their children to school will receive Rs 15,000from the state government from 26 January next year.
Agriculture Sector:
  • Formation of a commission for the development and welfare of farmers, with the chief minister as its chairman.
  • All farmers, including peasants, will be given Rs 12,500 a year as input subsidy before the sowing season
  • Interest-free crop loans will be provided to farmers, termed as ‘YSR interest-free loans’, the government itself will pay the interest directly to the concerned banks.

  Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has passed a resolution to increase reservation quota forOther Backward Classes (OBC) from existing 14 percent to 27 percent. The matter will now be taken up in the monsoon session of the state Assembly. The move will lead to the reservation in the state breaching the Supreme Court-mandated 50 percent cap to reach 63 percent. If implemented, Madhya Pradesh will become the only state in the country to have a 27 percent quota for OBCs.

  On the occasion of the fifth Telangana State Formation Day on 02nd June 2019,President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have extended their wishes to the people of the state. Telangana Formation Day is celebrated on the formation of Telangana State on 2nd June every year since 2014. The State celebrates the occasion with formal events across the districts.

  Assam government has waived admission fees for students taking admission up to Post Graduate level whose parental income is less than 2 lakh rupees per year. All provincialized government colleges and 5 universities are incorporated under the scheme.

  Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) headed by incumbent Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is all set to form a government for a fifth consecutive term. The new Cabinet is likely to be sworn-in on 27th May. The final Election Commission (EC) tally shows that the BJD won 112 of the 146 Assembly seats for which elections were held. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bagged 23, the Congress nine, the CPI(M) one and a solitary Independent was also elected.

 Kerala became the first state to tap into masala bond market by listing the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB)’s masala bond worth of USD 312 million (Rs 2,150 crore) in London Stock Exchange (LSE)’s International Securities Market (ISM). It has a fixed interest rate of 9.723% per annum. The bond issue builds on the Kerala government’s focus to get multinational corporations to invest in the state.

  The Meghalaya government has approved setting up of a commission to look into the problem faced by farmers. The proposal was made by the Agriculture Department to set up the Farmers’ Commission in line with the resolution passed at the ‘farmers’ parliament’. The ‘farmers’ parliament’, first of its kind in the country, was organised in December 2018 and was attended by scientists, bureaucrats, apart from farmers, to discuss issues related to the agri situation in the state.

  The Chhattisgarh police for the first time has inducted women commandos in the District Reserve Guard (DRG), its frontline anti-Naxal force. Comprising 30 women led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dineshwari Nand, have received extensive training in jungle combat. With the induction of the women commando contingent, the number of platoons of the DRG in Dantewada now stands at six.

  ‘Gujarat Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2019’ passed by Gujarat Assembly which came into force from May 1, 2019. The Act will allow the shops and other businesses in the state to operate 24×7. The Act replaced the Gujarat Shops and Establishments Act, 1948 which prevented shops and other businesses from operating between 12 to 6 a.m. Employees will get twice the regular salary for working overtime, against the one-and-a-half-time as provided under the earlier act.
