      *     Analysis In the above given sentences, the has been used before boy, prize, Bible and Christians (all nouns) which are definite or particular person or thing. These particular person or thing may begin with both sounds consonant or vowel.     *      Uses of Definite Article 'The' (i) (i)            Is used before a class of noun. For example : The dog is a faithful animal. (ii)           Is used before the superlative degrees of Adjective. For example : I am the best (iii)          Is used before HEAVENLY bodies.       *        Analysis In these examples, a is used before European, university, useful and one.     •  He is an M.P.  
      *     Analysis In these examples an has been used before honest, honourable, M.L.A and M.P. "hough these words begin with consonants but they sound like vowel. Therefore before them an has been used.  

    *     Introduction   The words 'a' an' and 'the' are called Articles. There are two kinds of Articles:
    •  Indefinite Articles: a and an
    •  Definite Article: the

    •  The elephant is big but the mouse is small.

    •  In the first sentence the word and is joining two words Steve and Smith.
    •  In the second sentence the word and is joining two words this book and that book.
    •  The third sentence the word but is joining two sentences the elephant is big and the mouse is small.
    •  In the fourth sentence the word because is joining two sentences James cannot sit and the chair is dirty.
    •  In this way the word and, but and because are joining two words or two sentences. These words are called Conjunctions.
