Poverty in India is reducing but it is still a major issue. Rural Indians depend on unpredictable agriculture incomes, while urban Indians rely on jobs that are, at best, scarce. Since its independence, the issue of poverty within India has remained a prevalent concern. Nearly 21.1% of the entire rural population and 15% of the urban population of India exists in this difficult physical and financial predicament. The division of resources, as well as wealth, is very uneven in India - this disparity creates different poverty ratios for different states For instance, more...

Babar, the first conqueror and emperor of the Mughal  dynasty in India, was so charmed by the beauty of India  that he proclaimed that if there was any heaven on earth,  it was here, it was here (in India). History is my favourite subject. I enjoy other school subjects also. But I enjoy learning History the most. Mathematics is the subject I least enjoy  History is a record of the past. It tells us of the great people and what they did. It tells about, the people responsible for the various discoveries adventures, wars, and our progress. History helps me in understanding the present in the light of the past. It helps me develop my power of thinking. A person without knowledge of History cannot have a good judgment. He cannot judge events and incidents. No doubt History has many names and dates But they are all so interesting. History is the record of man's progress through the ages. I have good collection of history books. Some day, I might even write such a book myself. History has widened my outlook.

My favourite animal is the horse. It is a very useful and beautiful animal. The children in particular love to see it. It has a smooth, shining body. It has a long tail and hard hoofs which can enable it to walk speedily on roads. A horse is a very useful animal. It is generally used for riding purposes arid sometimes as a beast of burden. Since earliest times, horses have been used for various purposes and to draw the chariots of kings and other royal personage and carts for other people. A horse is a smart, swift-moving animal. In the battle between Alexander and Porus, one important factor for Alexander's victory was that he used horses and infantry whereas the army of Porus was on the backs of elephants which were too heavy and slow in movements as compared to horses. Even in the two important battles of Panipat, more...

Our country is very rich in fruits. They are of many kinds, shapes and sizes. They also have different smells, tastes and colours. The Mango is the national fruit. It has been cultivated in India since time immemorial. There are over 100 varieties of mangos in India, in a range of colors, sizes, and shapes. Common in the tropical part of the world, mangos are savored for their sweet juice and bright colors. People in India eat mangos ripe, or prepare them green as pickles or chutneys. They are rich in vitamin A, C, and D. The poet Kalidasa sang its praises. Alexander the great savoured its taste, as did the Chinese pilgrim Hieun Tsang. Akbar planted 100,000 mango trees in Darbhanga, known as Lakhibagh. I like fruits. But mango and cherries are my favourites. I relish them the most. I also like mango-juice, pickle and jam. There are many more...

List Sunday, Rani came to my house. We decided to visit to zoo. At about nine we reached the Zoo. We bought the tickets and entered the gate. A zoo is indeed a world in itself. It is a world of wild animals and birds, made artificially by man. Sparrows and parrots of different kinds and colours were the first to welcome us. There were also pigeons and cuckoos of different breeds. The deer and the monkeys were wandering freely. They were kept in a small wood bounded by a stream. My friend was frightened to see a crocodile. The tigers looked awful basking in the sun. There is no denying the fact that a visit to the zoo is indeed a thrilling experience. It will always remain fresh in my memory.
