Smoking is a bad habit. It creates a lot of health hazards not only to smokers but also to non-smokers. Despite warning on the cigarette packets and persistent anti-smoking awareness documentaries, people at large fail to give up this habit. The young people mostly fall victim to this addiction. Science says that smoking is at the root of a number of diseases. It causes respiratory troubles, aggravates hypertension and blood pressure. It may also cause cancer. There is a famous saying that the role of pen is mightier than that of the sword. But unfortunately there are people who believe that the use force is necessary.   The pen expresses a personal or public opinion. It stands for the press, literature, newspapers, books, and other  writings. We may, therefore, say that the pen stands for the peaceful means by which a person is persuaded to accept the views which the writer holds. No force is used to persuade the reader, but a good and forceful writer forms opinion. But the sword, on the more...

The success or failure of a school depends upon its Principal. A Principal has a very important place in the working of school. He can improve the standard of education in the school. He is a central figure in the school. If I were the Principal of my school, I would introduce some ideas which are in my mind. First I would introduce co-education. Time has come when boys and girls should be educated together. The girls generally are more hard-working than boys. There will be healthy competition between boys and girls. Boys will be encouraged to work hard to outshine girls. Secondly, I would try to make games compulsory for all students. It is on the playground that the feelings of brotherhood, discipline and social service are created among boys. The team work becomes their habit. The Duke of Wellington once said that it was on the playing fields more...

Of all the books I have read the Ramayana influenced me most. This is my favourite book. I love it most. The book has many charms of its own. It is more interesting than any other book. Cotton is a white fluffy substance like fibre. It is a product of the cotton plant and cotton herb. Cotton requires a warm climate and a rich soil to grow in. It grows in North America, China, Egypt and in some parts of India. American and Egyptian cotton is better than Indian cotton because the former has long strands of fibre. In India, cotton grows plentifully in the Deccan. There are two kinds of cotton. One is got from the cotton herb. The other is got from the cotton plant. The cotton herb grows from one to two feet in height. When the fruit ripens, it bursts. From it comes out the soft white thing. This is cotton. The seeds of cotton are separated from cotton in mills with the help of machines. This is called 'ginning'. This cotton then goes to spinning mills. There it is drawn into cotton more...
